Murtha, Murtha, Murtha

Rep. Murtha is now pushing for an immediate, 60 days from enactment, withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. The amendment to a defense spending bill would require the White House to start withdrawing troops down to a level of about 70,000 without setting an end date to when the remaining troops need to be home. From Breitbart.com: Key Democrat urges Iraq pullout without deadline

Murtha said some Republicans on Capitol Hill, backed by the White House, have advocated reducing U.S. troops in Iraq to 70,000 from the current level of nearly 160,000.

While he opposes leaving any U.S. troops behind, Murtha said he’ll bring an amendment to the House floor next week that requires the White House to start redeployment within 60 days of enactment, without setting a deadline for completion.

Hold on a minute here, I thought we needed a troop surge to win the war. Wasn’t the reason we were losing because we didn’t have enough boots on the ground to defend the territories we cleared out? So how is forcing the President to withdraw troops without a deadline to bring the last stragglers home going to do anything? Yet again another example of what yellow bellied cowards these liberals are. Either go big or go home Murtha, stop meddling in the role the Constitution gives to the Commander in Chief.

Another small tax on a pack of smokes

Years ago I said the idea of taxing cigarettes was a bad idea. Trying to make a profit or price a product out of the marketplace is not the Federal government’s place. Yet every time we turn around the brain trusts (I.e. gas bags) we elected want us to pay for a program that they think is important. So how about this new tax, is 3 cents or so on a pack of cigarettes such a big deal? I’m not a rocket scientist but who oversee’s cigarettes now? How come we can’t transfer the money from that government agency to the FDA’s budget to cover the costs? Anyway, here is a snippet of the article from Breitbart.com:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Cigarette packs would bear graphic warnings that illustrate the health risks of smoking under a provision added Wednesday to landmark tobacco legislation pending in a Senate committee.

The warnings would mimic those already used in Canada and elsewhere.

“These warnings convey the truth in no uncertain terms,” said Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo. Enzi opposes the overall bill, however, saying that it doesn’t do enough to support smoking cessation programs.

The amendment was accepted as part of overall legislation that would give the Food and Drug Administration authority for the first time to regulate cigarettes and other tobacco products. The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee began considering the bill Wednesday but delayed final action until Thursday after losing a quorum.

Churchill gets canned! What took so long?

That scholarly professor Ward Churchill finally got his 9/11 troofer self fired. On a positive note the Federal government finally found a group of people that moves slower than themselves, the University of Colorado! Lohan competing with Paris and Britney

One of my favorite celebs (and lasts years wall calendar since I couldn’t find Heidi Klum 2006) is back in trouble again with the law. From a CNN article:

“The troubled actress was charged with drunken driving, possession of a controlled substance and other offenses.”

Way to go Lindsay! Cnn.com has an article about her most recent offense and a not so flattering mug shot available here: Lohan mugshot released after DUI arrest

Lost

Ever had that feeling of being completely lost? I don’t mean lost in the sense of needing directions to the highway or feeling as if you don’t know where you are but lost as in you know where you are, just not how you have gotten here. Well that’s me, I am totally lost. What happened to America? Where have we gone so wrong? Is there any hope for this nation or are we fighting a losing battle against history and ourselves?
